AIGF Course in Mumbai
The IGF Code (International Maritime Organization), which is a code under international maritime law applicable to all ships using low flashpoint fuels, is the basis of the AIGF (Advanced Training for Ships Using Fuels Covered Under the IGF Code) course, which is a short-term training program approved by DG Shipping as required by seafarers working on modern vessels using low flashpoint or alternative fuels (e.g. LNG). AIGF training is 5 days long and will prepare Masters, Deck and Engineer Officers and Crew to safely perform bunkering, storage, handling and operation of these types of fuels in addition to the associated safety and emergency systems related to their use in accordance with STCW Regulation A-V/3. This advanced training program includes a variety of topics covering the properties of the fuel, the systems aboard the ship, the bunkering procedures, emergency response to a fuel spill and/or the detection of gas, and risk based safety practices. Candidates will typically be required to complete the 4 basic STCW safety courses and obtain a Basic IGF Certificate of Proficiency (CoP) prior to attending the AIGF course, and must pass the exit exam to obtain the AIGF certificate.
