BST Course Description
The Basic Safety Course (BST or STCW Basic Training) is mandatory for all seafarers before boarding a ship. The BST Course includes various other courses that make the seafarer ready for any kind of emergency onboard such as fire, flooding, abandoning of the ship, and other medical emergencies.
Eligibility for BST Course
To attend the BST Course, you need to clear all of the points mentioned below.
Age Requirement
Must be at least 18 years old. .
Educational Qualification
Minimum qualification: 10th pass.
Medical Fitness
Must be medically fit as per the International Maritime Organization (IMO) standards.
A medical fitness certificate from an approved doctor is required.
Vision and hearing should meet the required standards.
Nationality & Identity Proof
Valid passport or national identity document (as per country regulations).
No Criminal Record
Some training institutes may require a police clearance certificate if you had any record of offense.

BST Course Fees

Complete Process of BST Exit Exam
1. E-Learning Requirements for BST Exit Exam
Minimum Study Hours: 36 hours
Passing Marks: 50%
2. Steps to Complete E-Learning for BST Course:
Visit the DG Shipping website and access the e-learning portal.
Click on Modular Courses, enroll in the Course, and log in with face verification.
Complete the required e-learning hours and attempt the assessment exam.
Upon passing, candidates become eligible for 11-day classroom training at a DG Shipping-approved MTI.
After classroom training, candidates must take the Exit Exam on the DG Shipping website.
3. BST Exit Exam Details
BST Course consists of 4 subjects (PST, PSSR, EFA, FPFF) so you need to pass the exit exam of all these 4 subjects to get the BST Certificate.
After completing all of the above courses in 11 days you will be called for the Exit Exam where you need to pass each subject separately. If you fail any exam then you have to retake the exam. Once you pass all 4 examinations, you will receive a BST Certificate which will be valid for 5 years stating that you have completed the BST from a particular college.

How to Download BST Course Certificate?
After completing E-Learning, Offline Training, and Exit Exam, the MTI generates the STCW BST certificate.
The certificate can be downloaded through the Indos CoP Checker on the DG Shipping website.
