Chief Mate Phase-II Course in Lucknow
The Chief Mate Phase-II Course is the second stage of training required for both new mariners with less than one year of sea time as well as experienced personnel seeking a Chief Mate Certificate of Competence from the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the STCW Convention. The focus is on advanced ship management; stability; handling and securing cargo; maritime law; weather forecasting; pilotage and navigation; and leadership. This course prepares participants to accept full accountability for all aspects of the operation of the vessel's to be moved from berth (i.e., the loading / unloading process), for ensuring that the vessel has been loaded properly (load line rendered with either ballast or topping off), and to accept full accountability for the vessel's safety through the effectiveness of the ship's captain's command structure.
Although most aspects of the course are taught in the classroom, some instruction is delivered through a combination of simulator and practical assessment, with successful completion (completion of all three components of the course) required for participation in the Chief Mate Competency Examinations conducted by a governing maritime authority.
