GMDSS Course in Chandigarh
Achieving the qualification in Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) is considered an important milestone in the professional life of the merchant navy professional. The 12-day course, approved by the Directorate General of Shipping, is essential in acquiring knowledge on the advanced forms of radio and satellite communication techniques used in emergency situations. Currently, the maritime professionals in the Chandigarh region are not fortunate enough to find an approved maritime training institute in the region that offers the course, and hence the professionals from the Chandigarh and Punjab regions have to move to the Delhi NCR region to complete this important course.
The detailed course is conducted over 17 days, and after the formal examination, the Ministry of Communications issues the General Operator Certificate (GOC), valid for the entire duration of the professional's life.
