GMDSS Course in Kochi (Kerala)
It is an essential part of the career path for any marine industry professional to acquire General Maritime Distress and Safety System certification. This is a 12-day program, and it is vital for any candidate to master the complex radio and satellite communication systems used in emergencies. Although Kochi is an important marine center, the students in this region will find no D.G. Shipping-approved institutes to offer this training in the city limits. Therefore, most seafarers in Kerala have to travel to other important marine centers, such as Chennai or Coimbatore, to enroll in the courses offered at D.G. Shipping-approved centers.
The entire certification process takes 17 days to complete, and it includes theoretical studies along with intensive practical training using simulators. After clearing the exams, the candidate is issued the General Operator Certificate (GOC) by the Ministry of Communications, valid for the entire lifetime.
