GMDSS Course in Lucknow
The acquisition of the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) certification is an important milestone in the career of marine-related professionals. This 12-day course, which is approved by the Directorate General of Shipping, is essential in the effective handling of the intricate radio and satellite communication equipment deployed in emergency situations on the high seas. Unfortunately, students from the Lucknow region will find no institute in the area that has the DG approval to conduct the course. Hence, the majority of the students from the region are forced to travel to the Delhi NCR region, which has been designated as a training hub with several approved maritime training academies.
The entire training process is conducted over a period of 17 days, including the scope for comprehensive theoretical and practical simulator training. Successful completion of the examination will enable the students to receive the General Operator Certificate (GOC) from the Ministry of Communications, which will remain valid for the lifetime of the recipient.
Who is Eligible for the GMDSS course?
To be eligible to enroll in the GMDSS program, the student must meet at least one of the criteria listed below:
Completion of the 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as subjects.
Deck Cadets who are about to appear for the 2nd Mate (FG) exams.
Nautical Officers currently in service with valid Certificates of Competency.
Marine Radio Officers currently in possession of valid Certificates of Proficiency.
Students must be at least 18 years old at the time of joining the course.
GMDSS Course E-Learning
At the moment, the GMDSS course is an entirely offline-based instructor-led training program with significant emphasis on simulator-based training. Since it is already an entirely offline-based training program, there is no need to complete an e-learning session.
