The Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) course is a vital course for all seafarers, aiming at equipping them with knowledge on how to handle distress and safety messages at sea.                           Who is Eligible for the GMDSS course?

The candidate should satisfy at least one of the following conditions to undergo the GMDSS course:

• Having passed the 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics.

• Cadets who are appearing for the 2nd Mates examination.

• Nautical officers who are in possession of a Certificate of Competency.

• Radio officers who are in possession of a Certificate of Proficiency.

• All the candidates should also be of at least 18 years of age.

As per the guidelines of DG Shipping, the GMDSS Exit Exam can be attempted only after the completion of the GMDSS e-learning course.
