Eligibility for GTFC/LGTF Course
The GTFC/LGTF is designed for entry-level trainees since it does not require a lot of knowledge or skill to be qualified for it.
Before you can enroll in the GTFC/LGTF, there are certain things that you will need to have in place...
The first thing that is required is that you must hold an INDoS Certificate as proof of your employment as a Seafarer (Seaman) and that you are capable of going to sea.
Another requirement is that you will likely have had to complete your Basic Safety Training (BST). Those organizations/Institutions that provide certification to you will typically be required by the DG Shipping Orders for Marine Training Institutions (MTI) to have satisfactorily completed your BST.
In addition, all persons wishing to apply to the GTFC/LGTF must meet the DG-Shipping Approved Medical Fitness requirements; therefore, you must be in good health and have a DG-Shipping Approved Medical Fitness Certificate! Your vision and hearing must be fit for training.
Lastly, you do not need to have Sea-Time on a Gas Carrier before you will be permitted to take the GTFC/LGTF Course because it is only a "Basic" Training Course.
