Master FG Advanced Shipboard Management (ASM) Competency Course in Chennai
Advanced Shipboard Management Competency Training (ASM) for FG Officers is a unique four-and-a-half-month training period accredited by DG Shipping. It is an important course designed to train seafarers on how to pass the Advanced Shipboard Management tests as one of the steps to acquire their Certificate of Competency as Masters of Foreign Going Ships.
The course is carefully designed based on the standards set by Regulation II/2 and STCW 95 Section A-II/2, as well as following comprehensive guides provided by IMO Model Course 7.01 and META Manual Vol. II, Appendix M-II/2A. The certificate will only be valid for five years after which officers are required to take a RUT course.
Eligibility for the Advanced Shipboard Management (ASM) Course

All candidates must hold a valid CoC as a Chief Mate (FG).
Officers must have completed at least 12 months of sea service after receiving their Chief Mate (FG) CoC, alongside a total of 36 months of sea service since obtaining their Second Mate (FG) CoC.
The total 36-month requirement can be reduced to 30 months if the candidate has served as a Chief Officer for at least 12 months after obtaining their First Mate (FG) CoC.
