Master FG Advanced Shipboard Management (ASM) Competency Course in Mumbai
The FG Advanced Shipboard Management (ASM) Competency course is an extensive four-week training program accredited by the Directorate General of Shipping. The program is structured in a manner to adequately equip the senior deck officers with the skills necessary for writing the Advanced Shipboard Management exams, which are mandatory to obtain the Certificate of Competency (CoC) as Master of a foreign going vessel.
The syllabus is tailored in such a way that it conforms with the STCW 95 Section A-II/2 standard and Regulation II/2 criteria. Training is aimed at equipping participants with the core competencies covered under IMO Model course 7.01 and META Manual Vol. II, Appendix M-II/2A.
The Master Certificate of Competency remains valid for five years. The certificate becomes invalid after the five-year period, and a re-validation (RUT) course should be undertaken.
Eligibility Advanced Shipboard Management (ASM) Course
Individuals who wish to participate in the Master FG Advanced Shipboard Management (ASM) Competency Course must satisfy the following essential qualifications:
Having a valid Certificate of Competency (CoC) for Chief Mate (FG).
At least one year of approved sea service since gaining the CoC as a Chief Mate (FG).
Total sea service period of 36 months from the date of issuance of the Second Mate (FG) CoC.
However, the total sea service period is only 30 months provided that the individual has served as a Chief Officer for a minimum of 12 months after obtaining the First Mate (FG) CoC.
