Second Mate Competency Course in Chennai

The  Second Mate (FG) Competency Course is a four-month course endorsed by DG Shipping. It is mainly aimed at preparing candidates for the examinations for the Second Mate Certificate of Competency (CoC) on foreign going vessels.

This course was designed in line with the competency requirements of STCW 95 Section A-II/1 and therefore covers all the training requirements of Regulation II/1. The training material is developed in line with the content covered in IMO Model Course 7.03 and Appendix M-II/1C of the META Manual Vol. II.

The Second Mate CoC is valid for a maximum period of five years. In order to sail beyond this period, the officer must enrol for the RUT course for Master's and Deck Officers.
