Second Mate Competency Course in Kolkata
The Second Mate (FG) Competency Course is an approved DG Shipping competency course which lasts for four months.
It is designed to help maritime students become competent for examinations on the Certificate of Competency for foreign-going ships, according to STCW 95 A-II/1 and Regulation II/1 requirements.
The training includes learning content from IMO Model Course 7.03 and META Manual Vol. II, Appendix M-II/1C.
After passing all the exams, one's Second Mate Certificate would be valid for five years, but Officers need to pass the RUT Course for Master's and Deck Officers.
