VICT Course

The VICT course is basically known as the Vertical Integration Course for Trainers. It is a mandatory course that is controlled by the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS), India, for those who want to become trainers for other students in maritime training institutes. In other words, the purpose of the VICT course is to “train the trainers” to be able to teach STCW courses. This course lasts for 10 days.

Eligibility for VICT Course

For being admitted to the VICT Course, the following requirements must be fulfilled.

• VICT Course is for those people who are expected to train and assess as Trainers & Assessors to deliver approved courses under the Director General of Shipping.

• If one wishes to conduct training based on the competency standards set out under the STCW Convention & Code, it is desirable to know the technical aspect before hand.

• Participants are assumed to have adequate technical qualification in the concerned subject area. The technical qualification required to conduct DG approved course is stated in each separate course guideline. ' General information in this regard is contained in DGS Order No 5 of 2016.

E-Learning Requirements 

As per DG Shipping Guidelines, candidates can only appear for the final examination (Exit Exam/Institute Exam) after completing the course's E-Learning Module.
